President's Message - Jun '24

President's Message,

A call went out to “join me in sharing, educating, collaborating, just shy of shouting to the world who we are and what we have to offer, and why they should really, and need to listen.” Thank you to all that answered, and please do read on! To all those who did not pick up, and want their voice in our industry, read on and you will find your megaphone!

National has hosted five monthly educational webinars since January. Thoughts? Want to add to your collection or log your first…you still have time to register for the sixth, the June 20th “Hackers, American Business, and Easy Money.” In fact, you still have time to register AND invite a peer, a friend, or your crew! We have July’s all lined up but will not be leaking (wink, wink) the topic quite yet.

The MBCEA app user population continues to grow. Do you know what they know? Everything.

Beyond the app pushes/notifications to all of us as we are working through the day and week, it houses a forum where you can ask questions of all the members. Did you see the question and the answers/recommendations about crane use near airports in the Training/Safety and Technical area? Still have not downloaded the app? Please accept this challenge: open the Apple Store or Google Play and simply type “MBCEA” and join us.

Wow are our Chapters active! Look inside the MBCEA app or check out the event page for the education sessions, golf, or other event near you!

Can you join in another Chapter’s fun event if you are in their neighborhood? Why not? Either way, we would all love to hear or see about it (hint: LinkedIn pictures, and please do tag #MetalBuildingContractorsandErectorsAssociation

The AIA’24 (Conference on Architecture and Design) was THE Collaboration of the year so far and well, of our industry…EVER. The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) hosted a united participation of building manufacturers, product vendors, contractors and more in their Trade Show booth. Adjoined was our very own Dan Halme (of Halme Builders, WA) working his magic in the IAS (yep, the AC478 folks) booth. Combined we collected more than 300 contacts’ information of those interested in learning more about how and why an accredited Metal Building System is a design choice they should make for their project or customer’s end use! To all who participated, shared, and even shouted out details of the event, you did a fantastic job representing the industry and we have made another mark educating the design community on the possibilities of metal buildings.

Sharing information about all that you, and our association, offer is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, it allows members to celebrate all that we are doing and signals potential participants to discover activities aligned with their interests. By knowing what events are available, people can choose to engage in our topics they are passionate about, fostering a sense of fulfillment and personal growth. Secondly, transparent communication promotes community building. When we attend shared events, we connect with like-minded individuals, creating networks and friendships. Isn’t this what we are all about? Lastly, telling you and the world details of our activity enhances both the MBCEA and industry’s visibility and credibility, thereby attracting more participants, sponsors, and collaborators, contributing to all our success in reaching new heights together!

When you are on your next rooftop, safely tied off, shout, tell the world what you, what we are up to. They are beginning to listen.

Be Safe, Be Great,

Robert Tiffin
