President's Message - Nov '23

As a technically challenged older adult, I want to ask if you have heard about the brand new MBCEA mobile app? Simply search MBCEA in your app store and download. Once you log in you have an instant forum for Q&A and upcoming events. Post and share some information or brag about a new project. There’s already a good question in the forum area under the Training/Safety/Technical header. It is a private forum for the MBCEA so please get on there and give us some feedback. We hope you use it. It took me about 2 minutes to download the app and find something interesting.  

Have you seen the 2023 Building of the Year video? Check it out on our home page or YouTube channel. It’s a very impressive and photogenic project and the video is also quite good! Congratulations once again to Don Moore and Lemartec. I urge all of you to start considering which project you will submit for Building of the Year 2024. The contest opens in December and the winner is announced at our Conference in April. The winner will once again be highlighted in a video like this that we share and promote. The winner can also use the video on their website, social media, etc.

Now that the weather is cold, I hope you are all thinking about April in San Diego and the Annual National Conference. Sponsorship opportunities are now open and sure to sell out fast. If you have never attended this event before, please consider it – you will be glad you did. Save the date April 24-26. The Conference Committee is building a fabulous line-up of education and networking. This year we focus on management; next year we are in Charlotte, NC and will focus more on field needs.

There is so much going on at MBCEA these days: a new app, fantastic marketing and industry promotions, opportunities to learn and share at conference and on-line events. We continue to progress the new Metal Building curriculum initiative. We continue to strengthen our relationship and involvement with the MBMA; in fact, Robert Tiffin and I will be speaking at their December meeting. Last month we participated at METALCON with a booth and two sessions: Retrofit and Accreditation.

Our members frequently say they get so much more out of membership than the small annual fee. Please remember this when you receive your renewal invoice! You have until 1/31 to renew but why delay, pay it today.

As 2023 winds down, I think we need to reflect for a moment on how far the association has come in the last 10-15 years. We have certainly more than doubled our membership, perhaps tripled. Our online presence is strong, even stronger are the array of benefits we provide. We have a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship with MBMA. Reaching New Heights Together is more than just a tagline.
