Lead Position (Working Supervisor) of a Steel Erection Crew on Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings

Phoenix Construction, a renowned construction firm in the Cayman Islands with a legacy since 1979, is seeking a qualified Lead for a Steel Erection Crew. This role offers a unique opportunity to live and work in the tax-free Cayman Islands. An approved Cayman Islands work permit will be provided, but applicants must have a clean criminal record, including no DUIs. If English is not your first language, a TOEIC English test will be required (sample test available upon request).

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Working Supervisor to lead a team of Structural-metal Erectors. The candidate must be hands-on in the installation of complete structural systems for both primary and secondary steel, including insulated panels (IMP), wall and roof panels, SSR roof systems (including Butler MR24), metal cladding, insulation, trims, gutters, downspouts, man doors, roll-up doors, and other related pre-engineered building erection tasks.

General Requirements:

• Oversee daily site construction activities and manage a team of workers.
• Interpret and read blueprints effectively.
• Take the lead on productivity, monitoring performance and efficiency to ensure adherence to project plans and schedules.
• Be a hands-on team player, contributing to the development and completion of construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with design requirements, quality, and safety standards. 
• Significant experience with PEMB manufacturers, including Butler buildings and roofing systems.
• Experience with various metal cladding systems, building accessories, and roll-up doors.
• Manage materials and resources, ensuring project materials and workmanship meet quality standards.
• Oversee small projects and repairs in addition to larger building projects.
• Ability to work in humid tropical conditions. 
• Must maintain a clean police record and be drug-free.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) construction.
• Proven ability to supervise in-house crews and subcontractors.
• Ability to ensure projects are completed within scheduled timelines and to a high standard of quality.
• Experienced in resource coordination, material scheduling, and the use of cranes, man lifts, heavy lifting, and rigging equipment.
• Proficiency in using cutting torches and steel cutting equipment.
• Welding experience is beneficial; if you hold a welding certification, please include it in your application.
• Intermediate computer skills in MS Office, with experience in MS Project being an asset.
• All other trade experience is an asset, please specify.

Remuneration:

• Annual salary commensurate with experience, ranging from USD 76,000 to $90,000.
• Health and pension benefits as per Cayman Islands law.
