Message from the President - May '22

President's Message,
Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Conference in Tucson and made it such a success. The opportunity to spend quality time, face to face with MBMA members, vendors and the MBCEA group in such a beautiful setting was a great experience.
We received tons of positive feedback. A few highlights:
  • Thank you for all of your hard work putting everything together. So much amazing information in such a short time!
  • We have such a great industry with such great people and although many of us compete against each other, we can set all of that beside in a couple of days to learn from each other.
  • Great meeting! As a first-time attendee I was impressed from start to finish.
  • Wonderful venue, good discussions, really valuable networking.
  • Worth the time and travel to participate.
Feedback on individual sessions was equally positive with most sessions average 4.5 out 5!
I want to congratulate Foundation Steel, LLC for The Arbogast Performing Arts Center in Troy, OH, our Building of The Year and all the runners up in this prestigious contest. As we did last year, we will be creating a BOY video highlighting the contractor, the manufacturer and the project. Check out last year's winner, Dunn's Firehouse Project, here. In addition all BOY awards will be featured in the summer edition of Metal Construction News.
Our Building of the Year Contest is a fabulous way to showcase your company and your work. If you have never submitted a project, you may want to consider doing so next year.
I also want to congratulate the recent inductees to the Metal Construction News Hall of Fame. This prestigious event honors those who have really made a difference for our industry. They will all be featured in the upcoming edition of Metal Construction News. If you do not currently receive this magazine, MBCEA members can subscribe for free. Click here.
As I reflect on Conference, I am reminded just how powerful our group is. About 400 people, vitally connected to Metal Buildings came together to share, learn and network. Colleagues and Competitors, Manufacturers and Suppliers, Contractors and Erectors. They offered training, tips and techniques. They accepted feedback and freely provided information. We bonded and commiserated; we shared ideas and best practice. I firmly believe we are stronger when we stand together and work toward common goals with our partners in the metal building industry.
Lastly, during my opening remarks, I shared a PSA for temporary bracing that our sister company the Metal Buildings Institute recently commissioned. This powerful and evocative 30-second video should be widely shared and viewed with your team and your subcontractors. It is available in English and Spanish on the MBCEA YouTube page or by clicking here. And, while you are on the MBCEA page, hit the subscribe button! If the PSA inspires you, head over to the MBI page to purchase a copy of Guidelines for Temporary Bracing.

Jen Heimburger
